the days of my life

I am stitching.
Sometimes I look at my stitching.

"What the painter adds to the canvas are the days of his life.
The adventure of living,
of hustling towards death."
Sartre

  1. The way this piece currently drapes makes me sense the back of a garment. The Ravens or crows flying from the center of the circle coupled with the Sartre quote is most powerful.

    1. I had not thought that the birds were crows before. Thank you for this insight. After I read your comment, I remembered Van Gogh's painting 'wheat field with crows' - painted in last weeks of his life. and this swarm of birds does resemble that in a way. Had not seen this before, Jeanne.

I am in a dark time now with family issues.
I also have a deadline for end of June for this piece.

      Shall continue on. xo

    2. I really hate when deadlines and family issues collide.

Van Gogh's wheat field with crows. Ravens - wisdom. Coming up from the depths. Swarms. Deadlines. Dark times. Family. Concentric circles. Muted blue skies. Clouds in the middle. Moon. Galaxies. Stars. Sun around the edge. Silence. This is Big and Rich and Fertile.

    3. The stitching is helping me deal with the family issue. I don't really need to meet any deadlines - there is an exhibit that I have been invited to be part of and it would be nice to finish this, but not necessary. I've only brought this one piece with me and the amount of stitching I have asked myself to put into it is more than what makes sense. But, having this sheer amount of work to fall back on helps me get through unknowns that unfold and helps me.
Been thinking more and more about that wheat filed painting too.

I hope that we can have a conversation about creation. Thank you for taking interest. x
