the good earth

squares of red paper are pasted all around the house.  the word 'happiness' printed on some, 'riches' on others- this is done for birth of a baby

on new years eve burn red candles and on new year's day - the children wear red clothes

as if it were embroidered with flowers

it has to be loved as if it were embroidered with flowers and birds and two joined hearts upon it
this great beloved world
and all the creatures in it

and the hands keep on moving

moving back

Maybe we are all in the process of moving back towards the making of cloth.

more looking at wool cloth

the world is split open
and it is in our destiny to heal it
each in our own way
each in our own time

inventory of plant-dyed blanket-weight wool

I arrive home.
My design wall is there, sheer sublime is pinned up.
Piles of hand-dyed cloth on the floor.  three wool batts.  clutter of books.

I look at what I have, beginning with the blanket weight wool.  I also have linen, velvet, cotton flannel.
I feel invigorated by the break I've had away from home and studio.
Happy December.
