for the inner layer

The majority of contemporary female artists in Canada have a very strong “sense of touch” in their work.

touch them

You really have to know your materials.  Touch them.

It’s Sunday, the blackbirds are back

To sort through the many things on my plate, and finish some up, discard others.  Simplify my life as much as possible, but continue with my noble purpose.  I am a maker of quilts.

A pieced quilt back

I am without my laptop and am a bit bereft.  I have my phone  and am attempting my first post using the phone.  It’s okay.  It’s a blessing really.

Also, I slept well, and for the first time in 3 days am not in pain.  So that’s another blessing.

poetic

I finished embroidering the Louise Bourgeois' text that I had started in 2011.

On the right are pieces of dark cloth stitched with white crosses.  My niece Sarah made them last year as a way to meditate and heal.  Sarah died in January and left these hand stitched pieces to me.  Although I knew she was stitching, I didn't know that she had made so many.  She also made the red and white stitching.
