In my studio with the wall

In my studio with the wall.

Wanting to just make more.

I think I’d be happier if I did 3 hours of making a day.

Not so much reading.  Not so much tidying 💚

tree everlasting

Joyce Wieland’s whole-hearted respect for this time-honoured craft.  A quilt is an object of beauty, made through love and labour to provide both warmth and comfort.

She repaired herself

An old Welsh quilt given to me by our neighbour, and the round tablecloth dyed with indigo and marked with dots and circles that I keep returning to, but never finish.  Maybe I will finish it this autumn.

Domestic materials, perishable textiles, are continually being reincarnated into different states.  Ephemerality is the root of beauty.  Old fabrics gather energy from the decades of touching, but still, they fade away.  (2022 journal)
