my velvet penguin

When I was little, my grandmother made me a soft animal for Christmas.  It was softer than soft.  A black velvet penguin with a white satin tummy.  Silk velvet.  Heavy silk satin.  That penguin changed my life.  I recall how it felt to touch it, pet it, hold it.

    1. Yes. I wish I could tell her in person. I think of her a lot and also the penguin. I made one granddaughter a velvet pillow, the next one a velvet quilt. I wish I had made velvet penguins for my two grandsons when they were little. It’s probably too late now. 11 and 14 years

    2. Or maybe it’s not too late. Now I’m thinking about it. Thank you Grace. ❤️

  2. i don't think it's too late. they might be shy to admit...
but i think it would really mean something to them. And
maybe someday, they will have a child to carry the story
as well as the Velvet Penguin.

  3. Oh, isn't this just the best! I can imagine how it looked and felt. That sensory input, so comforting...at any age perhaps. After all here we all are, caressing cloth :)

I hope that we can have a conversation about creation. Thank you for taking interest. x
