a woman’s life

Being an artist means incessantly healing one’s own wounds and simultaneously opening them again in the process.

interior language

The ancestors created human beings and gave them language, law and culture.
The ancestors gave their spiritual essence to the land itself.

In search of more time

76 dots started, most finished.

67 not even started.

About those circles that I am stitching around the dots in the large red piece.  I think I have to leave it for now.

a positive act

 No work is completely knowable.

We can't reach a precise understanding of the artist's intent.

Even in despair, the artist acts positively.
To produce an object that is intended to last implies a belief in the continued existence of a society of people able to respond.

And it’s so beautiful

Your book makes a distinction between ‘sitting’ and ‘posing’ and the two verbs describe the same thing in principle, but they don’t.  And I have the feeling that most writers of memoirs are going into their past, and they are posing as themselves at an earlier point in their lives and you are sitting for yourself, in the present, and that’s what gives the writing this strange quality.  It has a strange quality to it.  It’s hard to describe - I can’t.  But you are definitely sitting for your self.
