abundance of memory

In the ordinary act of darning bedsheets with my mother, I experienced an intimate yet astonishing sense of unity in my thoughts, sensibilities, and actions.  I found the possibility of containing such an abundance of memory and pain, even affection for life, in that way.  A strange nostalgia, entirely mesmerizing.  Kimsooja

new stories

Q:  stories find their authors and this one found you.  How does that work?

A: oh, I’ve no idea how it works.  Nobody knows how it works,  I’ve never met anybody who knows how it works.  If we knew where stories come from we’d go back to that place and look for more, or avoid it.

for the Cayley room

 It started with Yin Yin.

A quilt show that has a connecting theme - that of working from the inside, from the back - and that there is no real front/back to any of these pieces.

Turn, my heart

Things that go away never return - everybody knows that.

And in the bright crowd of the winds

there’s no use complaining!

Am I right, poplar, teacher of the breeze?

There’s no use complaining!

Without any wind - look sharp -

Turn, heart.

Turn, my heart.

at the cottage

And we piled the bed with 3 blankets and a sleeping bag on top of the log cabin quilt and blanket.

And we wore socks at the beginning and I wore a cardigan over and an undershirt under my long sleeved nightie.

And in the morning, he said ‘let me warm you’ ….

And I loved him back.
