inner rawness

the inside of the black dress
the reverse of the embroidery

inner rawness vs outer shell

the stitches are constructed marks
each takes a second
each goes in and out of the cloth like a little wound that's then mended
over and over
piercing and mending

  1. i find dresses so evocative. and i usually love the back side of pieces more (or at least as much) as the right side/front. the little black dress. everybody must have one, you know. always stylish. wouldn't want to stick out, draw attention, not fit in. but that's just what They see. on the inside, there's - yes - rawness. fragility. doubt. "over and over. piecing and mending." keep going. onward. you're singing my song with this piece, sugar.
