intuitive flip and stitch

What is it?
A square of texture.  Desert-hued but soft like fur is.

Why did you make it?

To explore the velvet I dyed with plants.
I wanted to use this slippery cloth in intuitive foundation work.

It is a sample of intuitive flip and stitch.

  2. Very interesting work-not sure I know stitch and flip as hand sewing-but it is intriguing.

    1. I used flip and stitch by hand in the circle project. The small white piece with the 3 interlocking blue circular lines (Trinity) was entirely hand pieced over foundation shapes using hand work and flip and stitch technique in an intuitive manner. Mended World - the large white circle in a white ground that is on the cover of the spring SAQA magazine was stitch and flip technique. The surround was done by machine, but the circle was done by hand and has all those lovely quirky things that happen. It's a really organic technique and it is one of the key techniques that I will be teaching this fall in Newfoundland. So I'm glad to have this velvet grid as a sample for that class.
      Thanks for visiting Tina.
