My youngest daughter had just learned how to read palms. 'Give me your hand, mom' she said. She was 12-13. She showed me my life line. How it went smooth after a period of being split like a frayed rope for a long time. "Look" she said. "Life will get easier for you when you turn 50". I looked, but all I could take in was that the line ended.
From my 2000 journal
Now that's touching. And funny. xo
ReplyDeleteah this brings to mind these lines from The Summer Day by Mary Oliver
ReplyDeleteTell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?
