A Canadian Winter

Every year we ask the sky to send down as much snow as possible.  Our own nests will be all the warmer, all the softer.  Dreamers like severe weather.

Dear Heart

Embrace the word ‘No’

It’s like a box.  It gives boundaries and walls.

The box allows the creativity to expand with abandon because the limit pushes back into itself.

‘No’ stops you in your tracks and opens up a new place to start.

an Elder

I’m always taken care of by my own work.

You let go of your own idea and let the work go where it needs to go.  And that’s sometimes very uncomfortable.

One learns to linger in discontent and not be judgmental, but to have faith.

the year of the quilt

priorities in 2022

finish up some of my works in progress:

put the pieced quilt tops together with batting and backs and begin to quilt them.

the old dresden plate on new linen - ready to put together
the red sunlight and more yellow sunlight - I have some linen for a back
the green lamentation patched square - should I use a white wool back?

new beginning - use black thread in some areas
indigo checkerboard - please complete it jude
the first countdown to 50 years married is ready to quilt
the mended butterfly - mend and quilt

and those are only a few

The heart is symbolized by the sun

My enemy is the simile - that it is ‘like’ something.

My aspiration is the metaphor - it IS this

                 - it IS crushed    - it IS fragile

Not about the image of the thing, but about the condition it is in.
