time passes

a fine connection to the past
a fine connection to the life
memory
a poetic sense
time intensive activity
sewing
time capsule

the stitcher is focused
sewing as an activity opposes acceleration
tender remembering
the act of it
time passes
time has passed
but more slowly because of this way of marking it

slow trickling of time
subjective perception
give recollection space

life lines

My youngest daughter had just learned how to read palms.  'Give me your hand, mom' she said. She was 12-13.  She showed me my life line.  How it went smooth after a period of being split like a frayed rope for a long time. "Look" she said.  "Life will get easier for you when you turn 50".  I looked, but all I could take in was that the line ended.

my artistic practice

time passing
the slowness of my mark making
the silence of it
my 200 journals
beautiful blocks of time

cloud of time
layers of time
time passes over the earth
beginning with time day
beginning with time night

marking my place with one thousand walks
walking is like stitching

my children growing up
not to know but to go on

my time in mexico

We make a mistake, says Seamus Heaney, if driving down a road between wind and water, overwhelmed by what we see, we assume we will see "it" better if we stop the car.  "It" is there in the passage.

deliberateness

concentrate
trust
have absence of judgement
wait until you feel
allow your yin (receptive) rather than yang (assertive) to take over
pause
let feeling guide you
that's all
